  St. Hilaire

Artistic pursuits have always been a part of my life, whether manifested through clothing design, home décor, or with pencils, brushes and paint. My earliest artistic training occurred when, as a teenager, I completed the four-year correspondence course with Art Instruction Schools, based in Minneapolis, MN. This enabled me to gain employment as a graphic artist for five years while I completed university degrees in Home Economics and Education. I then embarked upon a career as a teacher and school administrator.  Following the completion of a Ph.D. in Educational Administration in 2006, I worked at Red River College and in the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba. Currently, I teach at the University of Winnipeg.

In 2015, I moved to Toronto for 18 months to  study drawing and painting at the Academy of Realist Art. Upon returning to Winnipeg, I began part-time studies in Fine Art and Art History at the University of Manitoba, while continuing my art practice from my home studio.

My preferred media include graphite, charcoal, and oil.  My work focuses on contemporary realist representations including portraiture, animals, still life and landscapes. I have held a membership in the Portrait Society of America since 2011.
